Long Distance Relationships
For many different reasons, more and more people these days are in some sort of long term relationship. With many young people moving away from home to go to college, it is often the case that this age group are the ones in long term relationships.
There are differing views on long term relationships, and whether they actually work or not. I have the cynic view that most of them can’t and there are a few reasons for this.
For example, lets look at the idea of a teenage boy living at home. And before moving to college he spends all of his spare time with his girlfriend, the makings of a long distance relationship. The theory is that he will still see his girlfriend in the holidays and then once his studies are finished the relationship can resume.
However as you know men are far more likely to get tempted to cheat at college than women are. With the constant parting and drinking, the temptation to cheat at college could be way too much.
Usually if men think they can get away with cheating they will do and there’s more chance of getting away with it in a long distance relationship. Being in a long term relationship means that the chances of you discovering that your partner is cheating are low.
There is also the chance of you going apart from each other in a long term relationship. You both will probably make new groups of friends and develop whole separate lives too.
The only time when a long distance relationship can work is if there’s light at the end of the tunnel and it won’t be long distance for too long. If it’s going to be years of being apart there’s a strong chance that it’s not going to work.
I would therefore consider everything before you get back into a long distance relationship that has already broken up once. If the only reason you want to get back with your ex is because you don’t want to be on your own, think about how often you were alone the last time you were together.
