Relations are complex, we all know this. While it’s a wonderful thing to spend some time as a couple, there’ll be times when your companion, and certainly you, would enjoy a moment or two to themselves. This doesn’t signify that they might be someplace else wholly, but if your better half is sat reading a novel, playing an instrument, enjoying apursuit or whatsoever, think carefully about disturbing them.

Relaxing as a couple in the same room in different ways can actually be a wonderful factor for a relationship, and can strengthen the bonds between you. How? Because you and your companion will be in a position to build a joint comprehension and appreciation of eachother’s entertainments. Granted, they might not be endeavours you like yourself, but your better half is interested in them and thus should be able to enjoy them.

Having said that, don’t let your better half indulge themselves for so long that it becomes detrimental to the time you could be spending together. As with any issues in relationships, it’s a matter of balance and finding common ground. In a similar way, if you yourself pass a large amount of time busy with something that doesn’t incorporate your better half, be sure to make them aware theyare appreciated with a few words, a gesture, or simply by passing physical contact like a kiss or acuddle.

Letting your other half know they are respected whilst still giving them space to do as they please is an important part of any relationship, and giving each other breathing space can certainly strengthen what you share.

It is also a question of respecting the private space of someone you care about a lot. That esteem will also reinforce the relationship between you as a partnership. These times away from one another can help to make you appreciate your time interacting even more. As the saying goes ‘Absence makes the heart grow fonder’, so now and again provide your better half some space and revel in a fruitful and satisfying time as a couple.
